We are proudly using renewable resources to power our Lodge.
Solar Power
On the top of our home there is a large 'solar power station' supporting the entire property and feeding extra electricity into the grid. We are not effected by any power cuts or so called loadsheddings as 4 large batteries can support our requirements during the night, if needed.
All of our geysers are powered by the Mighty Sun and the solar geysers are creating your hot water in each room.We still ask you to take short and sweet showers to save water. Cape Town became very water conscious when there were serious water shortages in 2015-2018, we almost reached 'Day Zero'... the day when the taps would run out. Luckily, it did not happen, but we all stayed very alert about water usage and the need to be mindful about it.

Borehole Water Supply
One of the many benefits of our borehole water is that it is better quality than water from the municipality. You can drink the water straight from our taps, the extensive and professional filtration system we installed is of high quality... which makes our water excellent and very safe to consume. It is reliable, plentiful and it is a superior quality solution to provide you with excellent water!
We recycle - Please recycle with us
Please use the separate bin provided for recycling, or just leave everything under the sink... we will take care of it. We collect glass, paper, plastic, aluminium together and someone takes them away to a recycle plant. All other general food and non recyclable items can be placed in the general bin provided.
Leave your wardrobe behind
We have established a non-profit organization called Chic Mamas Do Care in 2010.
If you have any items you no longer need or doesn’t fit into your suitcases, please put them into the paper bag provided in your wardrobe. We appreciate anything in good condition, and if we cannot sell it in our upmarket shop (see picture) then it will be distributed to the communities in need.
All the profit Chic Mamas make goes towards literacy, numeracy and early childhood development projects.
